A copacker is a specialized B2B company that offers, among others, packaging, labeling, and often co-production services to brand owners.
This service has become popular among retail chains that produce their own private label brands through contract packing (i.e. co-packing) arrangements.
For the copacker, this service is their main line of business, requiring specialized knowledge, skills, equipment, flexibility, and, importantly, compliance with the client company's production conditions and quality standards. The copacker includes their costs in the product price, which encompass property taxes, capital assets, depreciation, personnel expenses, contributions to various funds, and more.
For the client company, utilizing the copacking service allows them to obtain a finished product with all the aforementioned non-specific expenses already included in the cost, which otherwise, when the company produces the product itself, may not be immediately allocated to the production cost, thereby depleting the shareholder capital. In other words contract packing arrangement enables the brand owner to scope on the product, it's marketing (place, promotion, advertising) and logistics. Assigning the not very interesting or specific (or quite often changing due to specific retail-chains requirements) task of product packing to the co-packer. The latter might be more adopted to fullfil retailers' demands to change package size, the number of units in group packaging etc.
The decision to produce in-house or outsource is contingent upon market conditions and the capacity of the company's own production facilities compared to those of similar quality owned by the brand or product owner. It is also influenced by cost considerations, where external capacities may be more cost-effective or when the company's own capacities are not yet ready.

You have an idea or an example of a box for your product. On your order we make packaging design for you, producing a 2-D drawing and a virtual mock-up, a 3-D drafting model. You'll get an Acrobat file where you can rotate the model arbitrarily, considering with your team. If any changes are required - we can implement them.

Once you are satisfied with the virtual model you'll get your drawings or you can try the packaging design as a small-butch order:

Prototyping (Mock-ups production)

At Copacker we make prototypes (mock-ups) for you for in-field trials of your packaging with or without product - to test customers' perception at points of sales (POS), or on board of trucks to test packages' robustness at transportation.

Before production have a prototype to test your design. All our designs - cuts, creases, scorings are made with Computer Aided Design programs connected to automated sample making tables. This way you get the exact samples of what in the future might become your package - a carton box, a cardboard box, a corrugated board box, a POS-construction, a piece of mobile furniture....
